I Miss The Olympics

Every time I watch the Olympics I think, “Man, there’s never gonna be someone like Apolo Ohno (or whoever) again!”  But I’m proven wrong every time!

Anyways, this song was on a commercial which featured Apolo Ohno… I don’t remember who the commercial was for, but the music was AWESOME!

I stumbled upon the song the other day, so I decided to share.

What Sleeping and Devotionals Have In Common

Ok, so to prepare the dogs for a baby to be sleeping in the bedroom with us (yes, we will soon have 22 individual legs in our bedroom at night… 4 dogs, 3 humans) we’ve put the pack-n-play (I’ll call it a crib the rest of the post because it’s easier to type) down at the foot of the bed.  So now that they’ve gotten used to it being in the room without a screaming baby in it, the additional noise hopefully won’t bother them too much.

Anyways, the other night I looked in the crib as I went to gather my blanket (my wife and I have our own individual blankets… it’s what keeps our marriage in tact (JUST KIDDING!)) and I noticed a sheet sitting in there.  I thought to myself, “Self, you havn’t slept with a sheet in a super long time!”  So I got out of bed and “made” my half of the bed like it’s supposed to be made.

Not only was it the most comfortable I’ve been in our bed in a long time, but I slept like I haven’t slept in what seems like forever!  It actually gave me the sensation of staying in a hotel, on vacation, because that’s really the only time I sleep with a “made” bed!  It didn’t feel like home, it was different… more comfortable, more cozy, more relaxing… it was just plain different.

Then that got me thinking… When are the times we have our best quiet times with God?  Generally those rare gems happen at church, at camp, or that one time every couple of months when we wake up early and dive into the Word.  My point is, it’s DIFFERENT!  I’m gonna start experimenting doing devo’s in different places, positions and times.  Who knows what’ll happen!

He Loves His “Big” Sister

So I almost forgot to post something today!  So before it turns midnight, here’s. Cute picture of Hanna and Hunter.

That’s my big boy!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!!!

It’s that time of year when we all gather in the living room, wearing our pajamas and prepare to spend a few hours of quality time.  Just me, the family (aka, the wife) and sharks.

That’s right, Shark Week starts tonight!  It kinda snuck up on me this time!  My brother and I have been avid Shark Week fans ever since we were really young.  My favorite year so far was easily the summer Mythbusters took control… but it’s always good.

I’m sad though because I’ll be missing a lot of the things I usually watch on Food Network!

Wikipedia Fail

Yes, because there’s always a long durable length of rope handy at all times.

Have Smartphone? Take Notes?

They have a great logo too!

Use SpringPad!

I’ve used Evernote for a long time. And don’t get me wrong, Evernote is a fantastic application! The desktop app is incredibly fun to use, BUT you can’t edit notes on your mobile device! You can only create new notes and view already created notes!

SpringPad on the other hand, doesn’t have a desktop app. You login to your account on SpringPad’s website and use the web app. Yeah, I like the finesse and power that a desktop app gives you, but I’d much rather be able to have full control over my notes on my phone.

SpringPad supports all sorts of note types: Text, Pictures, Audio. SpringPad also has preset categories: Recipes, restaurants, check lists, shopping lists, packing lists. So let’s say I’ve found a recipe on allrecipes and I want to remember it later. I simply go to SpringPad and create a new recipe note. I paste the URL from allrecipes into the note field and it pulls in the Recipe and even sets the icon to be a picture of the food! (Just a note though, when I did this it pulled the ingredients in, not the instructions. Still cool though)

So pretty....

Another reviewer of SpringPad said, “If Evernote is a super advanced filing cabinet, Springpad is a super advanced personal assistant.” and I couldn’t agree more with that statement.
